Flipped Class Online Workshop Winter 2014

Here’s some feedback from the workshop we just wrapped up:

– “The book was phenomenal! At this point I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed this course and have already recommended it to others and plan to continue. Thank you for a job well done!” – Norma Robinson-Wilson, San Antonio School for Inquiry & Creativity

– “I just wanted to say thank you for this class. I learned more about the how and whys of flipping the classroom and I was able to reflect on what I already know and put in a written format. I liked reading the posts of other class members as well. They gave some great ideas and it was nice to have some of my questions/concerns brought up by others. This class is also ‘rubbing off’ on a couple of my colleagues as well. They are not creating their own content, but they are leveraging already created content and their current website to offer students more resources! This has occurred since my conversations about this class started!” – Christine Kincaid Dewey, HS Math Teacher

In this workshop, we will …

  • Read about other teacher’s uses of ‘the flip’ – what works, what doesn’t, best practices, lessons learned

  • Get hands-on and flip some of your own content

  • Try out some free screencasting tools, learn techniques for creating high quality, engaging screencasts

  • Learn about different approaches to creating and delivering flipped class content – there are many paths to good flipped content (it’s not only about screencasting).

  • Understand what you need to be aware of when you flip the classroom, explore how to use class time, and learn about techniques to help ensure that students consume the flipped materials

  • Develop your own personal plan to use flipped instruction techniques

  • Share your ideas and insights, interact with other educators, and learn from each other

  • Discover more resources available to continue learning about flipped teaching and learning
